The fastest-growing high school with a magnet program in Baton Rouge, Belaire High School promotes science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics through diverse and rigorous learning techniques. The magnet program offers STEAM pathways in robotics, animation, coding, engineering, and entertainment technology. Magnet students also have the opportunity to take advanced physics, anatomy and physiology, and biology II. Students can earn industry-based certifications in carpentry, pipefitting, workplace safety, public safety, microenterprise, business management, ProStart, hospitality and tourism, fashion design, cyber engineering, and digital entertainment. AP courses of human geography and government and politics and dual enrollment in English IV and advanced math pre-calculus are available.
As a recipient of a Magnet Schools Assistant Program grant, the students at Belaire have access to unmatched technology, tools, and equipment. Belaire is a culturally diverse and inclusive school committed to academic excellence for all students. In addition to an internationally recognized marching band, the school offers football, volleyball, basketball, soccer, softball, baseball, track and field, cross country, weightlifting, and wrestling. Clubs include Beta Club, National Honor Society, Junior ROTC, Outstanding Mature Girlz dance, cheerleading, mock trial, and pre-law club. Belaire was also recognized as a regional school with the “Most Promising Future” by Magnet Schools of the Mid-South (MSMS), a regional magnet organization that highlights academic achievement and magnet implementation for elementary, middle, and high magnet schools and programs across Arkansas, Colorado, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas.
