The Glen Oaks Senior High School family begins each week with a Monday Morning Meeting (3M). In the 3M, administrators, students, and faculty set the expectations for the week ahead This 20-minute assembly and monthly Positive Behavior Intervention celebrations both contribute to establishing a positive and collaborative school culture. That conducive school learning environment is evident in students’ academic progress. In 2017, Glen Oaks Panthers were recognized for growth in their ACT scores. That same year, despite being displaced by the flood, the school experienced School Performance Score growth.
In addition to the Project Lead the Way Biomedical Curriculum, magnet studies include pre-medical, sports medicine, and radio journalism Partnerships with Louisiana GEAR UP, Big Buddy, Southern University, and the Glen Oaks Dads make a positive impact on students’ lives. Students are excelling and it is evident in their work. Their artwork has been on display at the Shaw Center and Glen Oaks Center of Excellence. The Glen Oaks band, the heartbeat of the community, has received countless first place awards, including the regional Battle of the Bands.
